Woke up early this Steakday. Had to write my response paper for my God Life tut. Eventually headed up to campus to print it out, as is weekly routine. Actually saw all the other Study Abroad kids from that class up there doing the same thing, great minds think alike.
We headed down and stat in class. Today's topic was a little more of problem of evil and mostly argument from design. Discussion was interesting till about the end when one of the guys...(i'll describe soon)...decides he wants to participate.
This guy (pardon the rant) just gives off this ignorant vibe...like he wants to argue but does it veery badly...very badly. When he starts to speak we just all cringe and chuckle. It's kinda a shame. He also, as evident from today, had no idea about statistics and probability.
Tut was interesting. As I said, I find myself participating more than I would expect. There are about 4-5 of us that will basically beat around ideas while the others sit idly. The only problem/frustration I've found is that there is so much to respond to and there's no time to do it. So have the time I have to sit there with good arguments/examples or questions and not be able to use them or see what their counterpoints are. Almost just want to have a personal debate with this professor.
Hour break, grabbed a sandwich. The cafes on campus are really good. The rest of the hour was spent in the library (it's not nearly as scary as the Hopkins one...it has windows and light all around).
Sports Law was pretty basic. Topics revolved around AFL and sporting in relation to wartime efforts. Last bit was pretty cool with stereotypes and how sporting continued or stopped during the wars.
Next hour break (this one gets pretty annoying...rather just get it over with), I dropped off money for the AFL game to Mike and headed down to the roundhouse with Chris. Happy hour and computer recharging is about the only good part of that break. However, today was special. Mona, the girl we were waiting with, gave us some wonderful news! Apparently UNSW has a network like DC++ here on campus (which also apparently works from my appartment?) called Alliance. Both being from Hopkins and in withdrawl...we were excited. So we set that up.
Tut was with the other prof, since ours took the week and went to Bejing to watch the Olympics (lucky bastard...he's got connections...but promised to bring back lots of pics and give us a presentation next week, horray!). We had 2 presentations on the same topic, how boring, but were dismissed directly afterward.
Steaknight! 'Nough said. Even better we got one girl to have them ordered by the time we got there instead of waiting 30 min in line.
