A glorious Sunday, well... kinda. Today we got up with the intention of going to the zoo and exploring. Unfortunately when we got to the bus stop it just started raining (it's an outdoor zoo), so we edited our plans a bit. We got off the bus at Circular Quay (pronounced "key") and joined up with the others who took the bus right before ours in the Sydney Museum. Five dollar entry...was pretty crappy..not much to mention except for the pictures it had of people in the 50's with the most ridiculous looking haircuts.
We moved on to Darling Harbor (we were gonna take a ferry over, but barely missed it so we bused it) to grab some lunch and go to the aquarium. The place we ate was a little café on the harbor. Very good, most everyone got a burger, one guy got kangaroo, and I got some really good Turkish open-faced sandwich. The aquarium was spectacular. It started off as most do with some really cool larger animals in some tanks later. The really cool exhibits were three “rooms” off the central area. The three exhibits were the seals, oceanarium, and the Great Barrier Reef. The seals were kinda boring, but fun to look at. The oceanarium was mostly rays and sharks in a large tank you walked under (domed walkways so they swam over you) very cool, huge sharks. The GBR was SPECTACULAR, the variety of fish and corals they had in there you could just sit and look at for hours. In fact the very end of the aquarium was just a place to sit and look while they played some classical music in the background. There was one portion where you were surrounded by glass on all four sides. I’ll post some of the pics I took (hard to get good ones b/c of glare from glass or having no flash on).
It was dark by the time we exited and we decided to head back and do food back in Coogee. I wound up just making some BBQ chicken, corn and mashed potatoes for myself, and people just scavenged the leftovers. We just hung around for most of the night before crashing.
